1. NOW FULL - THE FIRST SESSION OF THIS WORKSHOP IS NOW FULL BUT IS AVAILABLE AS A CHOICE IN THE SECOND SESSION. Early Years - Everybody’s Business, Rachel Singleton. Our obsessions of inclusivity, resilience and equity start with our youngest learners. No matter what age and stage you influence, this session will inspire and surprise you as we describe the importance of early years learning with children and their families and provide details of next steps to get it right – from the start.
2. Equality and Inclusion In Schools - Adele Bates. Adele’s practical talks reveal why a focus on equality and inclusion links directly to Our Kirklees Futures, along with a positive outcome for staff and pupils’ ability to engage and learn. Alongside the theory, Adele shares tools to help you put this in place in your organisation and how to embed it for the long term.
3. An exclusion free Kirklees? Mel Meggs & Jo-Anne Sanders. Learners, their families, schools, and colleges should always receive the right support at the right time by the right people. Exclusions happen when there is no real alternative. We must provide that alternative. Mel & Jo-Anne will outline our approach and the challenges that we need to overcome.
4. Listening to young people learning in Kirklees - Michelle Ross. Our Democracy Friendly Schools programme is supporting children and young people in all schools across Kirklees to learn about local democracy, connect with local councillors and community organisations, and develop their own social action projects. At the heart of this programme is the opportunity for high school aged students to grow their skills and confidence by becoming Kirklees Youth Councillors. Join us to learn more about our programme and hear directly from young people taking part.
5. Flip the narrative - Elly Chapple. Over the past five years Elly has developed a unique approach to rebuild her trust in the world and work towards healing her trauma. Elly will outline her journey and the daily learning she employs in the fields of SEND, trauma, education, health and social care.
